I enjoy the game–yet every time i try to use a blank tile my game locks up and i have to get out and come back. When i place a blank tile the box comes up to select the letter i want. I type in the letter, hit ‘ok,’ then complete my word. When i hit the ‘add word’ button everything locks up and i can’t seem to do anything but get out. Does anyone else have trouble using the blank tiles? What are your secrets?

I’ve been playing this fiercely addictive game for about a week now. This morning it gave me a score of 3 for the word Quire ! Should have been 13 points ! Maybe it was just a glitch…………….

Love the game and the writeup – a very ambitious hackathon project indeed!

I have a couple of follow up questions for ya if you would indulge me

1) Could you speak more about the Heroku downtime you’ve experienced? Would you say its endemic to the hosting provider or the application code or a particular piece of the stack such as MongoDB? Or would the app easily scale out given a hosting plan with more cost?

2) What gives with the rule that once your first word has been placed, all subsequent words you place must be played off of your first word? That makes the placing of your first word VERY important which suggests this rule should be communicated clearly in advance. Just sayin’

Blanks appear to be broken (In Safari, on OSX 10.5). It prompts for a letter, but then it’s not really there. For instance, I drew DEB_NKS, typed U for the blank, and was then told that “DEBNKS is not a valid word.”
